# Cancel a service

> Cancel a service at the end of the paid period or straight away, and withdraw a cancellation if you change your mind.

You cancel a service on its page, at the end of the period you have paid for or straight away. You need the **Manage services** permission, and the service must be **Active**. To cancel a service that is suspended or still being set up, open a support ticket: its page links to it. ## Before you cancel

* **Point your domains elsewhere.** Domains that use the service's nameservers lose their DNS when it ends. See [Manage a domain](https://perfgrid.com/docs/domains/manage/manage-a-domain.md).
* **Keep a copy of your data:** website files, databases and email.
* **Withdraw any change that waits** on the service. See [Withdraw a change](https://perfgrid.com/docs/console/services/change-a-service.md#withdraw-a-change).

## Cancel a service

**1. Open the service**

Click **Services** in the sidebar and open the service.

**2. Click Cancel the service**

It is under the service's details.

**3. Choose when**

Under **When**, choose:

* **At the end of the paid period**: it runs until the last day you have paid for and is not billed again.
* **Immediately**: we end it once we have checked your request. Unused time is not refunded.

**4. Cancel it**

Tell us why under **Why are you cancelling?** if you like, and click **Cancel the service**.

We email you to confirm, or for **Immediately**, once we have confirmed or declined the request. The service's addons end with it.

A service with a **Minimum term** can't be cancelled immediately while that term or its notice runs. It runs at least until they are over, and the cancel panel shows the last day. After that, you can cancel it immediately like any other service.

> With auto-pay on, we charge your card 7 days before the due date, and the cancel panel shows the date. Cancel before then: once that period is paid, the service runs to its end.

## Withdraw a cancellation

A cancelled service shows a box on its page. Click **Withdraw the cancellation** to keep it. The service and its addons renew as before.

You can withdraw until the service ends, or until we have handled a request to end it immediately.

## What happens when a service ends

On its end date the service is suspended, and you can't log in to its control panel any more. 14 days later it is removed for good and moves to the **Ended** tab on the services list. If you change your mind in those 14 days, contact support.
