Why IMAP is usually the better choice
For most people we recommend IMAP. Messages stay on the server, and your mail apps stay in sync across phones, laptops, and tablets. That fits how most people use email today. When POP3 can make sense
POP3 downloads mail to one place and is less about keeping everything synchronized on the server. It can be a fit if you are pulling mail into another system (for example Gmail or another provider) that expects a classic “download and manage locally” setup. Wherever you can, prefer IMAP for a smoother experience and stronger security.POP3 ports
| Port | Use |
|---|---|
| 995 | Secure POP3 (SSL/TLS). Use this for encrypted traffic. |
| 110 | Unencrypted POP3. Not recommended. |
