Two-factor authentication (2FA) protects your PerfGrid client area account at billing.perfgrid.com. After you enable it, you enter your password and then a 6-digit code from your authenticator app. This also protects cPanel single sign-on and domain management that runs through the same login. This guide covers WHMCS, the system that powers the client area.

Prerequisites

  • An account at https://billing.perfgrid.com
  • An authenticator app on your phone, such as Google Authenticator, Authy, Microsoft Authenticator, 1Password, or Bitwarden

Log in to the client area

Go to https://billing.perfgrid.com and log in with your email and password.

Open Security Settings

Click your name in the top navigation, then click Security Settings.You can also go to Hello, Name! and choose Security Settings, or navigate directly to https://billing.perfgrid.com/clientarea.php?action=security.

Enable Two-Factor Authentication

In the Two-Factor Authentication section, click Enable Two-Factor Authentication and then click Get Started.WHMCS asks you to confirm your current password.

Choose Time Based Tokens

Select Time Based One Time Passwords and click Confirm.This is the standard TOTP option that works with Google Authenticator, 1Password, Bitwarden, and other apps.

Link your authenticator app

WHMCS shows a QR code and a manual secret key.
  1. Open your authenticator app and tap Add account or the + icon.
  2. Scan the QR code. If you cannot scan, enter the secret key manually.
  3. The app starts generating 6-digit codes for PerfGrid.

Confirm with a code

Enter the current 6-digit code from your app and click Submit.WHMCS confirms that 2FA is active and shows a one-time backup code.

Save the backup code

Copy the backup code and store it in a secure place, such as a password manager. You can use this code once if you lose access to your authenticator app.Click Close to finish. Your account now requires a second factor at every login.

Use 2FA at login

  1. Enter your email and password on https://billing.perfgrid.com.
  2. When prompted, enter the 6-digit code from your authenticator app. If you use the backup code, enter it instead of the app code.
  3. Check Remember this device only on a private device you trust.

Disable or reset 2FA

  1. Go to Security Settings.
  2. In the Two-Factor Authentication section, click Disable Two-Factor Authentication.
  3. Enter a valid code from your app to confirm.
If you lose your phone and do not have the backup code, contact support at support@perfgrid.com for a manual reset. You will need to verify ownership of the account.
Keep your phone time set to automatic. TOTP codes are time based and fail if the clock drifts.
2FA in the client area does not automatically enable 2FA in cPanel or in hosting-panel.net for Grid Hosting. Enable each separately if you use them.
